5.6 Given a scenario, troubleshoot and resolve printer issues
Given below are some troubleshooting steps for common printer issues:
1. Lines down the printed pages: Check for clogged print heads or a low ink/toner level. Perform a print head cleaning or replace the ink/toner cartridge as needed.
2. Garbled print: Check the connection between the computer and printer. If it's a network printer, make sure the network connection is stable. Make sure the printer driver is up-to-date.
3. Toner not fusing to paper: Check the fuser unit. If the fuser roller is damaged, replace it. If it's dirty, clean it.
4. Paper jams: Clear any jammed paper from the printer. Check for any torn pieces of paper that may be stuck in the printer. Make sure the paper tray is properly aligned.
5. Faded print: Check the ink/toner levels. Replace the ink/toner cartridge as needed.
6. Incorrect paper size: Make sure the paper size selected in the printer driver matches the paper size loaded in the paper tray.
7. Paper not feeding: Check the paper tray for any misaligned or stuck paper. Adjust the paper guides as needed.
8. Multipage misfeed: Make sure the paper guides are snug against the paper stack. Check for any debris or objects that may be obstructing the paper path.
