2.0 Infrastructure
2.2 Given a scenario, set up and install common peripheral devices to a laptop/PC.
Installation types
Plug-and-play vs. driver installation: Plug-and-play installation means that the peripheral device can be simply plugged into the computer's USB port and the system will automatically recognize and install the necessary drivers. Driver installation, on the other hand, requires the user to download and install the specific drivers needed for the device to function properly.
Other required steps: Depending on the device and its specifications, there may be additional steps required for installation, such as connecting to a wireless network or adjusting settings in the device's control panel.
IP-based peripherals: IP-based peripherals, such as network printers, require the user to enter the device's IP address in order to connect and install the necessary drivers.
Web-based configuration steps: Some peripheral devices may require additional configuration through a web-based interface, where the user can adjust settings and preferences for the device. These steps usually involve accessing the device's IP address through a web browser and logging into the configuration page.
2.3 Explain the purpose of common internal computing components
Motherboard/system board: It is the main circuit board in a computer that connects all the internal components, including the CPU, RAM, storage devices, and other peripherals. It provides the communication pathway and electrical connections for data transfer between different components.
